No need to miss out on this popular garnish - here's an easy-to-make version for topping off your favourite pasta, or salad dish. Also works well in wraps and sandwiches!
- 3 1/2 tbsp (22g) Nutritional Yeast
- 3 tbsp (44ml) Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Dijon Mustard
- 2 tsp (10ml) Maple syrup
- 1 ½ tsp (7.5ml) Liquid Smoke
- 1 Block of Extra Firm Tofu (400g)
Preheat the oven to 375F/190C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Mix together the nutritional yeast, soy sauce, dijon, maple syrup and liquid smoke.
Mix evenly. Then crumble the block of tofu over the bowl, to make “bacon” bits, and mix to coat the crumbled tofu. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes (optional).
Bake for 26-28 minutes, mixing half way.
You can serve with pasta, salad, or on top of avocado toast. This would be tasty in burritos and on pizzas too!
