We all deserve to be in a good state of health and it has been a long and gradual process which has led us to this state of sickness, obesity and disease. We all, also – if we take the time to actually acknowledge it – would like to put an end to unnecessary animal suffering (as if it's ever necessary!) How amazing it is that achieving true optimal health and vitality falls hand in hand with ending animal exploitation and does a great deal toward healing the state of the planet which we inhabit too!
We are so lucky to have the opportunity to follow a lifestyle which not only brings a multitude of health benefits, but is also kinder to the planet, saves animals from unforgivable torture and death, and which leaves more food, water and resources for everyone. This is your key to optimal health and vitality!
Transitioning to a vegan lifestyle certainly doesn't have to be an overnight all or nothing proposition and we need to all be aware of how each incremental change that we make creates a ripple effect of positivity in our lives, those around us and the planet and all of its inhabitants as a whole. Aspiring to cause less harm in all of your actions brings an immense feeling of peace and takes you on a journey of true fulfilment.
We have the choice to change today.
What we put in our mouths and the lifestyles we lead largely dictate our state of health. It is all too easy to blame genetics, someone or something else. But for the majority, the predicament which our minds and bodies are in right now, is a result of our past eating and drinking habits. Animal products are acid forming within our bodies, which means that we struggle to process them and it leads to inflammation and disease. Our bodies thrive in an alkaline environment which we can get from unprocessed plant-based foods. We do not need to filter the nutrients which our bodies require through another animals body before we eat them. Going straight to the source, the plant foods, means that our bodies are nourished with all that they need in a form which is easy to digest and assimilate. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity have all been linked to lifestyle and diet. There really is no reason to accept that there is a very large possibility that we may contract one of these chronic diseases during our lifetime. Modern day nutritional science proves that a plant-based diet can provide all of the protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals which we need, and this is supported by the British Dietetic Association. We have the opportunity to regain our health starting today.
Making the connection between the food we buy and where it came from is imperative. We are so far detached from the true origins of our food choices. The piece of flesh in that plastic packet was originally the body part of a living, breathing, sentient being. A being who had the same right to life and freedom as we all do. It is all to easy to distance ourselves from the truth, writing it off as a necessary evil, telling ourselves that we need these food products in order to get all of our necessary nutrients. That food product was petrified and didn't want to die, and the alleged nutritional benefits that we have been convinced by the multi-million pound marketing campaigns from food companies that we are going to get from that food product only ever seem to materialise as obesity and disease. We have the opportunity to acknowledge and accept those innate feelings of compassion and kinship towards fellow animals today.
We do not own the Earth, nor do we have any specific rights or say so over this planet. We are all inhabitants of the planet and we have the choice to respect where we live, thus protecting it for future generations. All other animals work in a perfect symbiosis, working in harmony with nature. No unnecessary destruction and pain wrought, simply cohabiting and surviving. We are in a unique position whereby we have the power to choose our methods of survival, those can be compassionate or destructive choices. We have the opportunity to do our bit towards healing our home today.
There are millions who are starving to death on a yearly basis. Think about it – millions of people have such a lack of food that their bodies end up shutting down and they die. This isn't because there isn't enough food to go around, not by a long shot. It's because of food waste and food distribution. If more people were to adopt a plant-based diet there would be significantly more food for everybody, since producing animals to eat as food requires such huge amounts of food and water, food and water which could be spread amongst vastly greater numbers of people. We have the opportunity to make changes today which will work towards fixing the distribution of food resources on the planet.
